Pogo pins are quickly gaining an advantage in the market due to the numerous perks they offer. They are easy to use, provide stable connectivity, last for long, easily fit in small spaces, among other advantages. However, you may not enjoy all these benefits when you mount them wrongly. Luckily, there are numerous way to install them. Here are some of them;

Direct Method

 This is the simplest method. You place the pogo pin on a solder pad, then fix it in place using solder paste. It’s fast and less technical. However, most professionals do not recommend it as it does not offer the required stability. Due to the vibration or the pressure from the movement, the pins may break or dislocate, damaging your connector.

Using a Plugin-tail

A plug-in tail offers more stability as the pogo pin sits on the printed circuit board. The plug-in tail rests on the board through the tail through the mounting hole. Most large companies use this method as the tail offers incredible support.

Combined method

This method utilizes the techniques used in processes 1 and 2. The pogo pins are laid on the gold pad using solder paste or pressure placed in a house with legs. This way, all connectors are held securely. Both the pogo pins and the housing have a plug-in tail. This increases stability and ensures the whole system holds together firmly. If you are looking for contact that lasts longer, this is the best method.

Cable Method

As the name suggests, you use a cable to fasten the pogo pin on the board. To connect the wire, a tiny solder cup is placed at the back of the pin, to provide an attachment area for the cable. Alternatively, when you are shopping at tts or any other platform, look for preassembled wires to make your work easier. You could also look for connectors with non-standard connection methods such as USB, as it is possible to add them to the connectors.

Using Pins

In this method, pins, which could be double-ended, are attached to the pogo pin. To fix it on the board, all you need to do is directly fit it on the housing. You could also use a plastic housing, which you mount on the device.

Spring Method

Here, you place a flat spring at the end of the pogo stick. The springs act as connector legs, which allow you to mount the pogo pin directly on the device but securely. By using the springs, the impact on the pogo stick resulting from any movement reduces.
